Bonus Rolls
A second chance at loot from content you already cleared — and, late in a season, the only way to push a few items past the top of the upgrade ladder.
What a bonus roll is
A bonus roll is an extra chance at loot from content you have already completed. You finish the boss or the run as normal, spend a unit of currency, and get a second, independent shot at the same reward table.
The currency is Ascendant Venomstone, and you gain 2 a week just by playing. It carries across seasons, so a returning player often has a stack of it waiting.
Every roll costs the same — 1 unit — on any of: Mythic Raid, Mythic+ 10, Heroic Raid, Bountiful Delve T8, Nightmare Prey.
What you get back matches the difficulty you did it on — a roll on harder content pays like harder content. It is not a shortcut past a difficulty, it is a second helping of the one you can already clear.
When you can actually use them
Bonus rolls are gated at the start of a season, which catches out anyone sitting on a stockpile: rolls cannot be spent until 25 August and you need at least 3 filled Great Vault slots that week.
The vault requirement is the one worth planning for — it means bonus rolls reward a week you were already playing properly, rather than replacing one.
From 29 September you also get one free roll every week, from Orin Straylight, beside the Catalyst in Silvermoon. A free roll is a free roll: take it every week, on the hardest thing you killed, regardless of what your stockpile looks like.
Spending them well
Roll on the hardest content you completed, in the slot you are furthest behind in. A bonus roll is a lottery ticket, and the ticket is worth the item level it would add — so rolling on a difficulty whose loot you have outgrown is spending currency to win nothing.
If a free weekly roll exists, spend that one first. Paid rolls come out of a finite pile; the free one expires.
Upgrading past the top of the ladder
The same system does something else: it pushes a small number of items above the highest rank crests can reach, by +4 item levels.
It only applies to weapons, trinkets and necklaces, and only on Hero and Myth gear. Each upgrade costs 10 of them.
| Item level | How it is reached |
|---|---|
| 337 | Ascendant Venomstone |
| 341 | Ascendant Venomstone |
| 344 | Very rare drop |
These are end-of-season numbers on a handful of slots, not a plan. Spend the currency on bonus rolls while you still have slots that a whole item would improve, and save these upgrades for when nothing else is left to gain — which for most characters is never, and that is fine.
How ResetReady uses this
When bonus rolls are live and unlocked, the planner folds them into the activity they attach to rather than listing them separately — a raid boss you can roll on is worth more than the same boss without a roll, and it ranks accordingly.
It respects the gates too. Before the unlock date, or in a week where you have not filled enough vault slots, it will not tell you to spend something the game will not let you spend.
